I answered an ad promising a free IKEA desk top. The eyes of the Woman who answered the door were ringed in dark purple-reds. She was carrying a baby phone.
The sketch to this painting followed soon thereafter.
It was not a conscious process.
Then, while working on the painting an older Woman told me about her earliest memory:
it was night, the sky was all lit up and her mother was pushing her in a stroller, running through the woods.
She remembers the bombing as something that was fun.
